Face It® Friday: Child Abuse Prevention Month

Face It® Friday: Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month; a month that we challenge ourselves to deepen the levels of awareness in our communities around the prevalence and impact of child abuse and neglect. Keeping kids safe is an adult responsibility and Child Abuse Prevention Month serves as a reminder each year that we can all be the face that ends abuse in our community and across Kentucky. Authorities confirmed over 21,000 victims of child abuse and neglect in 2016 in Kentucky, and one child abused is one too many. The Kosair Charities® Face It Movement encourages you to get involved during Child Abuse Prevention Month to recognize and prevent child abuse, strengthen kids and families, and engage your communities.

Ready to get involved and be the face that helps end child abuse and neglect in Kentucky? Check out some ideas on how to get involved:

  • Learn the warning signs of abuse and neglect at faceitabuse.org
  • Share information about activities and events in your area to get youth and their families engaged in their community
  • Order Face It brochures and posters here for your organization or school to distribute to community members
  • “LIKE” Face It’s Facebook page
  • “FOLLOW” Face It’s Twitter feed
  • Join Face It and our partners at an upcoming event: faceitabuse.org/events
  • Check in with parents and caregivers you know or live near to see if they could use a hand or someone to talk to
  • Advocate for Face It Policy Priorities that will prevent and end child abuse
