Louisville, Ky. (January 31, 2014) – Family and Children’s Place (F&CP) received a $23,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Louisville to bring mobile technology to the agency’s HANDS program.
HANDS provides voluntary visitation for first-time and expectant parents that begins during pregnancy or shortly after the child’s birth. The program fosters healthy pregnancy and births, stable child growth and development, safe homes and self-sufficient families.
Funds will be used to purchase notebook computers with mobile internet connections for the HANDS staff. Mobile tracking and record keeping enables visitation workers to become more efficient and provide services to more clients.
“The agency’s HANDS program serves Jefferson County through Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness, “ said Pam Darnall, F&CP CEO, “and mobile technology will certainly help us enhance and improve our mission to strengthen the health and stability of children and families in the community.”
The Community Foundation of Louisville, in partnership with the Lift a Life Foundation awarded a total of $245,000 in Fund for Louisville Grants to 11 local nonprofit organizations.
Family and Children’s Place serves approximately 5,000 children and families annually, throughout Kentuckiana. The agency’s mission is to strengthen the community through healing the trauma of abuse, violence and neglect and promoting safe, healthy and stable families through research-based services.
