OJCA-mike smileThe Office of Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell provides the prosecutors on the front lines of holding people accountable for abuse and neglect against children. At the Rally To End Child Abuse 2016

For several years, our office has led the charge in the state legislature to open family courts to the public so that there can be greater transparency and accountability in child abuse, dependency, and neglect cases. Senate Bill 40, which establishes a pilot project in volunteer jurisdictions, will open these cases to allow the public to see what goes on in these cases that are vital to the protection of Kentucky’s children. It passed the General Assembly this session and awaits the Governor’s signature.
