Face It Friday: New Year’s Resolution

Face It® Friday: New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year from Face It! As you’re setting New Year’s resolutions, remember kids and families can start setting goals for the year together! Creating resolutions with your children can help them understand the value of setting goals, teach the importance of self-motivation, and allow you to celebrate victories with your kids. Check out some tips below on New Year’s resolutions for kids and families.

  1. Keep it positive. Start the process of making resolutions by recognizing the great things your child did during 2017. It will help them understand how to set goals for this year and also give them a boost of positivity for what they’ve already done.
  2. Simple is best. Make sure to help your child understand the importance of setting realistic, age appropriate goals and the small steps needed to accomplish them. This allows them to set goals without feeling pressured or upset to achieve something unrealistic. A personal goal may include helping their parent prepare dinner one night a week.
  3. Make it a family event. Working as a family to accomplish goals is a great way to bond as a family and celebrate each other’s achievements. Family resolutions might be using less technology, having a monthly game night, or going on more walks outside.
