Community Luncheon to Celebrate the Face It® Movement to End Child Abuse

(Louisville, KY, April 30, 2018) – Kosair Charities® Face It® Movement to End Child Abuse, initiated in 2013 in response to the number of child abuse deaths in Kentucky, brings together community partners and leaders to celebrate recent successes and commit to be the faces that ends child abuse in the Commonwealth. The Face It Community Luncheon serves as the culminating event for Child Abuse Prevention Month efforts.

“Kosair Charities recognizes that keeping children safe is up to every single one of us, and that is exactly why we have made such a comprehensive and long-term commitment to this initiative,” said Keith Inman, President of Kosair Charities. “Today, there are 45 agencies involved in the Face It Movement across the Commonwealth, and we continue to grow to impact the lives of as many Kentucky children as we can—because one child hurt is one child too many.”

The Face It Community Luncheon will be held at the Kentucky Science Center at 11:30 am EST on April 30th with Renee Murphy of WHAS 11 as the event emcee. Dean Trippe, an author and illustrator, will serve as the keynote speaker for luncheon attendees, including child-serving agencies, community advocates, state and local officials, and Kentucky legislators.

“The Kentucky Humanities is proud to be a partner in this movement to end child abuse across the commonwealth. Our unique partnership highlights the link between child abuse and the arts, where those like Dean Trippe can share their story and help others heal from adverse experiences. We appreciate Kosair Charities recognizing the importance of unlikely partners in the work to prevent and end child abuse,” said Bill Goodman, Executive Director of the Kentucky Humanities.

“Kosair Charities commitment to this Movement is making a very real and significant difference in ending child abuse in Kentucky. While the Face It Movement recognizes the importance of on-the-ground efforts, it also tackles complex policy issues. Face It partners were key in passing House Bill 1, which will begin fundamentally reforming the child welfare system to ensure kids grows up safe and in a family,” said Dr. Terry Brooks, executive director of Kentucky Youth Advocates.

Face It will introduce the second annual “Fearless Advocate Committed to the End” (FACE) of the Face It Movement to End Child Abuse awards at the Community Luncheon.
