This Fall, Face It has been busy spreading the word of the work at conferences, with releasing our newest caregiver tool, a guide with 10 Free Activities to Connect with your child, adding several new partners, and Face It Text Alerts. Face It is incredibly thankful for the leadership of Kosair Charities and the commitment and active involvement of partners to make this work possible and continue to keep kids safer from abuse and neglect across the Commonwealth.

Face It in the Media

Face It has had some great opportunities to share stories, tips, and information on preventing child abuse and neglect across the Commonwealth. Make sure to check out these highlights below!

  • “In my view, there is nothing more important in our commonwealth than protecting our children. The Face It Movement brings together community members and organizations who collectively can effect change. While one movement alone may not end this problem, by offering and improving resources for our community we can work together to improve practice and policy within the commonwealth. For example, incident report forms, data, warning signs, caring tips and one-page information sheets for different age groups, can be found on Faceitabuse.org.” Read more from Keith Inman, president of Kosair Charities via Louisville Business First.
  • October was Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month and safety experts are sharing information on safe sleep to prevent tragedies. Learn more about the ABCs of safe sleep and how the Kentucky’s HANDS program plays a key role in keeping babies safe from our partners Family & Children’s Place via Public News Service.
  • Our partners at CASA of Ohio Valley and SPARKodc in Owensboro share how the book, “Anna, Age Eight” provided a blueprint for launching a data-driven community initiative focused on preventing trauma and building resilience among children. Read more via the Resilience Leaders blog.
  • Kosair Charities® announced continued investment in the Face It Movement in a recent press event with partners, local leaders, and media. The grant will support the multi-partner initiative in primary prevention programming, campaign management, community education and awareness, trainings for youth and professionals, conferences, and policy advocacy and implementation focused on safe kids and strong families. Read more from Kosair Charities and see coverage from WDRB and WHAS 11.

Face It Partner Spotlight
Our Face It® partners, Green Hill Therapy and Critically Loved each hosted their first ever respite events for parents. Green Hill Therapy’s event included 15 hours of respite care to parents of children with special needs at Green Hill. Parents got the afternoon to go see a movie, grab a bite to eat or take a nap! Critically Loved hosted a Mom’s Night Out event where mothers of critically ill and special needs children were treated to a manicure, massages, and yoga. Face It® supported Green Hill and Critically Loved in providing either care for the children of the parents getting respite, or coordination and dinner for the parent attendees.

Welcome to our new Face It Partners!
It seems like we’ve been adding Face It® partners weekly, we now have 11 new partners!
