Face It Friday: You Make The World a Better Place!

Just by being you, you are fulfilling your purpose in this world, and making it a better place. September is Suicide Awareness Month which brings light to darnkess, and gives a voice to this silent struggle. As long as it has taken you to read this, 800,000 people have died from suicide.

Talking openly about our hardships, depression and sad thoughts brings awareness in hopes of eliminating the shame that comes along with mental health. We should be able to talk about mental health as openly as we do physical health and having allergies.

Starting the conversation at a young age to help kids notice the good they do and how loved they are helps them find their purpose. Work together with your kids and end each day with asking each other, how you made the world better today.

…………………………………………………………………………….

If you’re worried about someone, ask them what they are feeling and don’t discount it. Don’t argue the value of life, but rather share your concern for their mental health and support them in finding a trusted person to talk to.

Often times, suicide doesn’t look like depressed, withdrawn, sad, quiet people. It can. But it can also look like laughter. It can look like someone who never meets a stranger, someone who is “always so happy”.

Check in on your family and friends. Be the voice that too many no longer have. Let them know they are NEEDED here. They are loved. That their lives are worth the daily fight.

Spread the word to help end the stigma of mental health.

We are all needed here. We are all so very loved and wanted. Your life is worth it. YOU are worth it! If you’re feeling low, share your feelings with someone you trust.
