Moms of Children with Special Needs Get A Night of Pampering

Yesterday, dozens of mothers of children with special needs gathered at Down Syndrome of Louisville for a night of pampering.

As selfless caregivers, parents of children with medical, mental, or psychological disabilities are constantly advocating for the best care of their children and are often stuck in waiting rooms for hours during various doctor and therapy appointments. They need opportunities to relax and rejuvenate in order to best provide the special care and attention their children need.

The Kosair Charities® Face It® Movement and our partners, Critically Loved, Down Syndrome of Louisville, Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Louisville, and Barren Heights, hosted the third Mom’s Night Out event for local moms to receive massages and nail care, practice stress relieving yoga, learn various art therapy activities, and more.  Face It strives to support all parents in our community. Because of the additional challenges these parents face, Face It wants to remind them to care for themselves, too.

“This has quickly become our favorite event! Providing special needs moms time to be pampered and destress is much needed. We love how our nonprofit partners have come alongside us to be able to offer this twice a year,” said TyiaLynn Scott, Executive Director of Critically Loved.

Thank you to the local businesses that donated their time and services to pamper these mothers and provided them with a night of selfcare.

“We are so honored to partner with these amazing organizations. A night to relax and focus on self-care is something every mom needs,” said Julie Torzewski, Executive Director of Down Syndrome of Louisville.
