SUMMARY:Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Prevention & Recognition Virtual Trainings
DESCRIPTION:Pediatric abusive head trauma (AHT)\, or shaken baby syndrome\, is a severe form of child abuse that most often involves infants. In these Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Prevention & Recognition trainings\, participants will learn the early signs of maltreatment and the various injuries and conditions that may result from vigorous shaking\, slamming\, or impacting the head of an infant or young child. They will also be provided tools for dealing with a crying infant and ways to share information with parents to prevent abuse from occurring.  \nTraining objectives are to review the statistics of abusive head trauma; to define and describe abusive head trauma and its associated injuries; to discuss risk factors and prevention\, and to understand the outcomes for victims. \nREGISTER for one of the FREE virtual trainings being provided on the following dates and times with Kentucky’s leading child abuse experts. \n*CEUs are available for Kentucky Social Workers\, Nurses FRYSC coordinators\, Early Childhood Educators\, Dentists\, Dental Hygienists and Emergency Medical Service providers.*  \n  – Wednesday\, September 30th at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET with Dr. Christina Howard\, Child Abuse Pediatrician\n  – Thursday\, October 1st at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET with Carla Hay\, Pediatric Forensic Nurse\n  – Thursday\, October 1st at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET with Carla Hay\, Pediatric Forensic Nurse\n  – Wednesday\, October 7th at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET with Dr. Melissa Currie\, Child Abuse Pediatrician\n  – Thursday\, October 8th at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET with Dr. Jaime Pittenger\, Child Abuse Pediatrician \nNOTE: Dentists and Dental Hygienists are invited to participate in a specialized training on Friday\, October 2nd — details and registration HERE. \n\nThank you to the following organizations for partnering with the Face It Movement in hosting these trainings: Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C)\, CASA of Ohio Valley\, The Center of Owensboro -Daviess County\, Grow Baby Grow\, Family Enrichment Center\, Family Nurturing Center\, University of Kentucky Pediatric Forensic Medicine\, and Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky. \nThese trainings are provided for free with the support of Kosair Charities. DESCRIPTION:Peace Education is providing tools and perspectives that help youth build the skills they need to thrive even under the added stress from COVID-19 and the demonstrations against police violence.\n\n\n\nVisit Peace Ed’s Video Lessons page on their website for videos that can be accessed by anyone\, anytime\, anywhere with internet access. The page features two four-part sets of basic conflict resolution lessons (with a third on the way) as well as helpful shorts about using I Messages\, remembering that when our emotions are high\, our thinking is low\, and on how our brains work under stress. \n*There is no set date\, videos can be accessed at any time*\n—–\n\n\nThe Peace Education Program strengthens communities and schools by training youth and adults to build and sustain positive relationships.\nWe do this by providing learning experiences to reduce violence\, enhance personal integrity\, and foster mutual respect.\nWe teach Conflict Resolution\, Peer Mediation\, Prejudice Reduction\, and Team Work.
