SUMMARY:Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence: How DV Perpetrators Manipulate Systems (Part 2)
DESCRIPTION:Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence – KCADV has partnered with Safe and Together Institute to offer training for Batterer Intervention Program providers; we also invite you\, SRAs\, and other partners who feel this training would benefit them and their work.  As we are all here for one common goal\, to build safer communities\, this training opportunity might be helpful to you. We invite you to both sessions to better understand BIP providers’ work\, the possibilities for change\, and the risks of not fully understanding how people using violence may manipulate providers even as they seek services. \nDescription: Domestic violence perpetrator manipulation of systems is a critical problem that undermines responses to family violence and profoundly impacts adult and child survivors in many ways. Perpetrators manipulate systems to bolster their power and abuse and to control adult and child survivors further. For example\, they use false allegations of criminal behavior\, parental alienation\, and “failure to protect” to target survivors\, their children\, and the professionals involved with the family. Perpetrators’ successful manipulation of systems compounds\, reinforces\, and legitimizes their power\, increasing both the survivors’ sense of their powerlessness and the perpetrator’s seeming omnipotence. Sadly\, the children and their physical and mental health care. Harassment via repeated reporting and litigation can also deplete survivors’ finances and waste public resources. As a result\, adult and child survivors often lose trust in the systems that protect them. Perpetrators can be prevented in their manipulations when systems\, and the professionals within them\, are domestic violence informed. In this session\, you will learn about five steps and systems professionals can use to protect themselves against these behaviors. \nJune 22nd\, 2023\, from 9 AM -10:45 AM.  Register here:  https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIpduGopj4oEtDlT_oWLoKxp0zdIOmW7f1y. \nIf you have questions about these sessions\, please reach out to Nakela Cleveland at ncleveland@kcadv.org. We hope you all will join us!

SUMMARY:Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence: When DV Perpetration\, SUD\, and Mental Health Meet (Part 1)
\nDescription: Many families affected by domestic violence perpetrators’ behavior have multiple\, complex\, intersecting issues. In the past\, we might have referred to these as co-occurring issues. But the language of co-occurrence often does not give us a sense of how these issues interact. For example\, listing the family’s problems is not as powerful as explaining how the domestic violence perpetrator interfered with his partner’s recovery. Using an intersections framework versus a co-occurrence framework\, we increase perpetrator accountability\, improve our ability to diagnose and treat each family member and strengthen our ability to help the adult and child survivors. \nSafe & Together Institute: Intersections: When DV Perpetration\, SUD\, and Mental Health Meet (Part 1) \nJune 21st\, 2023 from 9 AM – 10:45 AM.  Register here:  https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIod-mvrjkuH9He8Ab77mEJqi-nSjBAC7YD \nIf you have questions about these sessions\, please reach out to Nakela Cleveland at ncleveland@kcadv.org.  We hope you all will join us!

Your application will be prioritized.  \nThere are also a limited number of self-pay slots available. The cost is $1\,900 for the whole 52 hour training (including Parts I and II as well as consultation; not including travel or lodging.) In order to receive in-person\, EMDRIA-approved training with trainers\, facilitators and consultants of this caliber\, an agency would typically have to book a training for a group of at least 12\, or therapists would also have to pay for travel and lodging. So for those in Kentuckiana\, the self-pay option may still be beneficial to you or your employer. If you or your employer are interested in self-pay\, please fill out the form linked above and be sure to check “Yes” or “Yes\, but I would like to be considered for a scholarship slot as well” when asked in the last question. \nThe curriculum has been designed by Jamie Marich\, Ph.D.\, LPCC-S\, RMT and trainings are led by Amber Stiles-Bodnar\, MSEd\, LPCC-S\, LCDC III\, an affiliate of the Institute for Creative Mindfulness. Our trainers have the only EMDRIA-approved training program that teaches EMDR therapy through the lens of mindfulness. They also uniquely allow trainees to choose consultants that align with the population group they treat (e.g. children\, adults\, addiction\, etc.) This program specifically equips therapists to work with real world clinical presentations from day one\, including how to handle complex and developmental trauma\, addressing dissociation\, and implementing EMDR into their current setting. \nPlease visit healingtreenonprofit.org/emdr for detailed information about this training\, including certification\, curriculum\, cost\, continuing education and eligibility. You can also see testimonials from past trainings. \nAll trainings are in Louisville\, KY (Exact addresses will come closer to the trainings). Travel and lodging are not provided. The training includes 10 additional hours of (virtual) consultation spread out into two segments of 5 hours following each part of the training. The trainer will make available an adequate number of video platform based consultation groups with ample time and notice to schedule. \nPlease only complete the form if you are available for ALL DATES\, times and locations listed. \nPart I July 10-12\, 2023 (8:30am – 5pm each day) – Louisville\, KY\nPart II October 16-18\, 2023 (8:30am – 5pm each day) – Louisville\, KY \nPLEASE NOTE: Filling out this form does NOT guarantee that you will be a scholarship recipient. However\, if you are not selected for this training\, you will remain on our waitlist. \nPlease feel free to spread the word about this training and our interest list. We are so grateful to be able to support more therapists who are seeking training in EMDR Therapy. \n

SUMMARY:Strengthening Families: Concrete Support in Times of Need
DESCRIPTION:4C’s Free Virtual Training for Early Childhood Professionals\nStrengthening Families: Concrete Support in Times of Need\nFacilitator Liz Walker: \nPromoting strong\, healthy family relationships provides far-reaching benefits that go beyond the family itself. Healthy families lead to healthy children\, communities\, and economic prosperity. Strengthening Families Concrete Support in Times of Need will help you connect families to resources in times of need. Every family\, at some point\, needs support. “A time of need” can be described as the birth of a child\, supporting a child with special needs\, choosing the right center or school\, trauma\, mental illness\, violence\, or poverty. This session aims to educate providers on how to strengthen the family’s ability to access services and advocate for their needs. By the end of the session\, providers will know how to direct families to early intervention support\, and access 211\, the Louisville\, KY-based essential community services hotline. Lastly\, after attending this session you will be able to leverage the natural strengths of a family by asking powerful positive questions upon enrollment that foster deep connections from the start! \nThis workshop is free thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Kosair Charities Face It Movement. \nNotice: This is an online class.  Please make sure you include a valid email address when registering and that you have internet and email access at the time of the training.
