SUMMARY:Face It Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Prevention Trainings
DESCRIPTION:Pediatric abusive head trauma (AHT)\, or shaken baby syndrome\, is a severe form of child abuse that most often involves infants. Training objectives are to review the statistics of abusive head trauma; to define and describe abusive head trauma and its associated injuries; to discuss risk factors and prevention\, and to understand the outcomes for victims. \nKentucky’s child abuse pediatricians will present the trainings — Dr. Melissa Currie in Louisville and Dr. Christina Howard in Lexington. SUMMARY:Speak Out Against Domestic Violence: Life After
DESCRIPTION:Join us our partners at Speak Out Movement to celebrate life after Domestic Violence. The brunch fundraiser features speakers\, a silent auction\, live panel\, and more. This year’s theme\, Life After\, celebrates survivors of domestic violence and examines the effects domestic abuse has on adults who were exposed as children. Partial proceeds from the event will go to our recipient partners Family Scholar House and UP for Women. \nSpeak Out Movement is a social non-profit organization created to tackle issues related to women’s rights. One of the organization’s initiatives is to create a balanced narrative about survivors of domestic abuse. They focus on trying to remove the stigma of survivors by empowering those who have a story to tell and want to help others heal through the example of their determination and triumph. \n \n
