Face It® Friday: Policy Priorities

Strong state policies help to strengthen communities and keep kids safe from abuse. The 2018 Kentucky legislative session is well underway in Frankfort. Two bills before the Kentucky General Assembly have been filed that align with Face It’s 2018 priorities and would work to prevent and end child abuse.
Those priorities include:
- House Bill 1
- Keep kids safe from abuse and neglect with adequate funding and improvements in how we respond to and support families.
- Increase transparency by moving functions related to appeals and cases within the Office of the Ombudsman to outside of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
- Senate Bill 137
- Keep kids safer from abuse by allowing adults to whom a child has disclosed abuse to testify in court.

These bills will require action from Face It advocates to help them progress and make their way to the Governor’s desk. Find out who your Kentucky Senator and Representative are here. Email, write a letter, or leave a voice message for your legislator urging them to take action on the above items in support of the Face It® Movement to end child abuse. |
