11 May Face It Friday: National Foster Care Month
Face It® Friday: National Foster Care Month

May is National Foster Care Month. This month, we pay special attention to supporting those who are working to improve the lives of Kentucky kids impacted by abuse or neglect. Make sure to reach out to resource families, which include foster parents, foster-to-adopt families, relative/kinship caregivers, and legal guardians to support and thank them for the work they do. These families are critical partners in ensuring the safety, permanency, and well-being of children who’ve experienced abuse or neglect.
You can celebrate Foster Care Month by spreading the word about the needs of children and youth in foster care in your local community and sharing helpful resources! The National Foster Care Month 2018 website offers information to help support, provide, and maintain a safe and caring home for children who’ve experienced abuse or neglect. It also offers supports for child welfare workers with a collection of best practices on effectively recruiting and retaining kinship and foster families.

We want to thank all of our Face It Partners who work to support youth in foster care and their families: Uspiritus, Home of the Innocents, St. Joseph Children’s Home, Sunrise Children’s Services, the Department for Community Based Services, CASA of the River Region, Boys & Girls Haven, and Maryhurst! |
