Face It® Friday: The Importance of Routines
Many of Kentucky’s schools were back in session this week, which means we had to help our kids get back on their schedules. We each have a different style of parenting, and depending on who you are, setting and maintaining a routine for you and your family can either come naturally or be difficult to maintain.
- Schedules help parents maintain consistency.
- Having a consistent schedule or routine helps organize life and gives kids a sense of security, which reduces stress and anxiety for both parent and child.
- Routines also help eliminate power struggles.
- Children will eventually adapt to the routine and complete their tasks but we should always remember that kids are kids and they do make mistakes.
Children do best when routines are regular, predictable, and consistent.
