Just Checking In

With everything going on in the world, it can be difficult to make time for YOU. We are grateful for your support and your commitment to helping to end child abuse. But, the truth is, we’ve seen the comments, messages, and even felt it within our own staff. People are tired, struggling, and doing what they can to survive. Now is an important time to remember to take care of ourselves! Whether you are a parent, full time caregiver, or in the helping profession, you understand the challenge of balancing “me-time” with the time required for others.

So this week, we’re setting aside to ‘just check in.’ Check in with yourself, and, if you have capacity, with your neighbor or another loved one. Take a moment to appreciate YOU. Send these messages to your fellow parents and caregivers this week:

Sunday- Just checking in… How are you feeling today, really? Physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally.

Monday- Just checking in… Have you had a second of self care? Fill up a big glass of water and be sure to eat something! Parents, you’re always running around, make sure you prioritize your needs too.

Tuesday- Just checking in… Have you had a second of self care? Take a deep breath in, hold, breathe all the way out.

Wednesday- Just checking in… Have you had a second of self care? Get up and take a quick walk around. Moving your body can give you more energy, and help to clear your mind.

Thursday- Just checking in… What are you looking forward to? Think of something you’re excited about in the next few days, this weekend, the next few weeks.

Friday- Just checking in… Are you having a lot of thoughts? Try taking one minute to #braindump and write down the words in your head. This will help to clear your mind even if only for a bit!

Saturday- Just checking in… Have you had a second of self care? Name one thing you did today or this week that made you feel good.

The important note: self-care looks different for everyone, and all of us need to take care of ourselves.
