Introducing the Face It Child Abuse and Neglect Data Dashboard

To further support this mission, Face It is excited to launch the Face It Child Abuse and Neglect Data Dashboard—a user-friendly tool designed to increase access to critical data and inform communities, advocates, and policymakers working to strengthen Kentucky’s child welfare system.

The dashboard provides the most recent full year of state and regional data on child abuse and neglect–including reports, substantiated cases, and other key indicators–alongside historical data to illustrate trends. By making this information more accessible and visual, the dashboard aims to help users recognize patterns, identify areas of concern, and inform decisions that protect children and support families.

Why This Matters:
Data is a powerful tool in the fight against child abuse and neglect. Understanding the scope of the issue allows for more targeted prevention strategies, effective interventions, and informed advocacy efforts. Whether you are a community leader, service provider, policymaker, or engaged citizen, the Child Abuse and Neglect Data Dashboard equips you with the information needed to drive meaningful change.

Key Features of the Dashboard:

— Easy-to-navigate visualizations
— Statewide and regional breakdowns
— Multi-year trends highlighting changes over time
— Data to support prevention, intervention, and policy advocacy efforts

Face It believes that transparency and accessibility are critical to building momentum toward safer communities for all children. By providing this data in an interactive, visual format, the dashboard shines a light on where progress is being made—and where more work is still needed.

For the past 12 years, the Kosair for Kids Face It Movement to prevent child abuse and neglect has tracked child welfare information for the Jefferson and Southern Bluegrass DCBS regions and the entire state. While this has provided valuable information, the majority of the state was unable to find information specific to their area.

This August, we are relaunching our dashboard to include the state and all nine DCBS regions. The new dashboard includes expanded racial data where available, including the overall racial population of each region for comparison. It also features an interactive map that displays county-level rates of neglect, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. The expanded dashboard will help regions better understand current trends and track changes over time, which can inform local leaders of priority areas which need to be addressed.
