Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the River Region pairs trained volunteers with abused or neglected children to advocate for their needs. Currently, more than 100 children in our community are waiting for a CASA to be their voice in court.
ROLE OF A CASA VOLUNTEER:
Volunteers get to know the child by meeting with them at least once a week.
Volunteers identify the child’s needs by gathering information from teachers, parents, service providers and other persons of support.
Volunteers report their observations and recommendations to the Judge in every court hearing involving the child.
Volunteers are the one, consistent adult present in the life of the child throughout their journey in family court.
Volunteers ensure children are in a safe home, receive proper medical care and have opportunities to be successful in school.
To learn more, please join us for a CASA 101 information session. During the one-hour session, you will hear about the children our volunteers serve, the application process, the training and case support provided to each volunteer. You’ll also hear about other ways to support the CASA mission.
Please join us for an upcoming session – and feel free to bring a friend.
