That’s a Wrap on 2025

Advocates, policymakers, partners, parents, and friends – thank you for all of your support and dedication to keeping kids safe throughout 2025. As this year nears its end, we’re reflecting on the goals that were accomplished, challenges that were overcome, and areas to continue growing in the new year. As we plan for the work ahead, we want to take a few moments to highlight the hard work and accomplishments of the Kosair For Kids Face It Movement and our partner organizations.

Galvanize Unlikely Allies – Connecting unexpected individuals to the Face It Movement

— Face It partnered with  Baptist Health to create static graphics about safe medication storage and the necessity of self-care. These graphics were rotated on waiting room screens for 12 months at Baptist Health offices.

— We coordinated a series of trainings with Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana for their volunteers and troop leaders on topics including recognizing and responding to child sexual abuse and grooming, human trafficking, and sextortion.

— We also worked with Aetna and CVS to ship 100 co-branded safe medication storage one-pagers to all 72 CVS locations across Kentucky (7,200 in total).

Deepen Partner Capacity – Ensure the Face It Movement partners have access to training, technical assistance, and collaborative support to prevent abuse

— The Girl Scouts created a Face It Patch of the Month for April. The opportunity to earn this badge was given to 8,000 Girl Scouts grades K-12.

— The Face It Bluegrass Team hosted a Lecture & Award Breakfast where Dr. Mary Clyde Pierce presented Epigenetics: The Developing Child and Child Maltreatment, Changing the Story. The 2025 Fearless Advocate for Children Everywhere Award recipient was Jennifer Perry, a licensed clinical social worker with the UK Healthcare Department of Pediatric Forensic Medicine.

— In collaboration with our partner organizations, Face It hosted eight Lunch and Learn and Curiosity Club webinars on topics including online safety for children, access to concrete supports as child abuse prevention, and addressing the rise in child abuse in child care centers for hundreds of professionals and community members.

— Face It partnered with Growing Together Preschool, Visually Impaired Preschool Services, FEAT of Louisville, and Critically Loved to offer training focused on helping child care providers support children with disabilities and reduce child abuse.

— Face It worked with churches to co-host trainings for faith-based organizations’ staff and volunteers on how to work with children with disabilities.

TEN-4 Day: Face It has been expanding efforts to train professionals who interact with parents and families across Kentucky. Discover highlights from this years efforts to prevent and end child abuse.

— Face It hosted three Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma trainings and provided CEUs to more than 400 social workers, health and oral health professionals, educators, first responders, and other concerned adults.

— TEN-4 Day proclamations were received from Governor Andy Beshear, Attorney General Russell Coleman, Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts Allison Ball, and 21 elected leaders throughout Kentucky, including 15 Kentucky counties and 8 Kentucky cities.

— With partners at Lurie Children’s, Mass General Brigham in Boston, and the University of Wisconsin, efforts have spread across the nation with TEN-4 Day 2025 being recognized by the Governors in Massachusetts, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont, and Wisconsin! TEN-4 Day and awareness of the bruising rule were also recognized through many efforts in eight additional states and Puerto Rico. View our recap blog to learn more about TEN-4 Day across the US.

Face the Facts – Activating the whole Face It audience around the most up-to-date research and data to address child abuse and neglect

— In March, the updated Face It Data Dashboard was launched, featuring data on child abuse and neglect across Kentucky. In September, the Dashboard was relaunched with data for all nine DCBS regions. It now includes expanded racial breakdowns with population comparisons and an interactive map showing county-level rates of neglect, physical abuse, and sexual abuse.

Policy Change: During the 2025 legislative session, with bipartisan support and the steadfast commitment of legislative champions and community advocates, two of Face It’s policy priorities were successfully passed by the Kentucky General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Beshear. Read more about the 2025 policy wins.

Bolster Parent and Caregiver Connection – Strengthen parents and caregivers though community connections and reduce isolation and stress where they live and work

— Face It created targeted media content in collaboration with BCI Media to share via WDRB to parents including focusing on sharing resources to support parents with tools for co-regulation, supporting crying babies, and safely storing medication.

— The Face It Community Engagement Team developed diaper change station stickers to offer an encouraging word and show support for parents and caregivers. The goal was to connect with local businesses to build relationships, engage communities, and share the mission of Face It and the importance of all of us working together to support parents and keep kids safe.

Community Awareness & Education: This year, Face It hosted several community events and offered education opportunities.

— The Art of Healing had over 150 attendees, and was co-hosted by Fund for the Arts and in partnership with 20 local artists and community organizations. Face It provided technical assistance to our partners at The Well and the Lexington Department of Social Services for the Lexington Art of Healing event that was attended by 160 parents and children.

— Face It continues to educate the public through the development and promotion of educational materials and content. This past year, we distributed over 133,546 print resources in both English and Spanish with materials reaching families in all Kentucky counties and our messages on social media have received over 3,005,570 impressions and our engagement rate increased by 193%.

— Face It partners hosted 19 positive parenting events that reached more than 9,000 parents, caregivers, and children to bolster connection, share knowledge, and provide support. Co-branded Face It materials were made available at each of the events.

While Face It and its many partners have worked hard over the past year to raise awareness, provide resources, and ensure lasting change, there is still much work to be done. As we prepare to continue this important work into 2026, will you join us in ensuring that every child in Kentucky is free from abuse and neglect?
