Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Prevention & Recognition Virtual Trainings–For Dental Professionals
October 2, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Oral health professionals play a unique and important role in the prevention, recognition, and reporting of child maltreatment. Join the Kosair Charities Face It Movement and Delta Dental of Kentucky for a FREE training on Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma prevention and recognition.
Pediatric abusive head trauma (AHT), or shaken baby syndrome, is a severe form of child abuse that most often involves infants. In these Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Prevention & Recognition trainings, participants will learn the early signs of maltreatment and the various injuries and conditions that may result from vigorous shaking, slamming, or impacting the head of an infant or young child. They will also be provided tools for dealing with a crying infant and ways to share information with parents to prevent abuse from occurring.
Training objectives are to review the statistics of abusive head trauma; to define and describe abusive head trauma and its associated injuries; to discuss risk factors and prevention; and to understand the outcomes for victims.
REGISTER for the FREE virtual training with child abuse pediatrician Dr. Christina Howard on Friday, October 2nd at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET.
*CEUs are available for Dentists and Dental Hygienists*
Thank you to Delta Dental of Kentucky and the Kentucky Oral Health Coalition for partnering with the Face It Movement in hosting these trainings.
These trainings are provided for free with the support of Kosair Charities. If you would like to support their work on child abuse prevention, please consider designating a donation to their child abuse prevention fund at kosair.org/donate/.
